Jean Metellus lived in exile in Paris France. in 2008 Jean Metellus became a Chevalier de la l gion d'honneur in France Knight National Order of the French Legion of Honour .

The Legion d'honneur or Ordre national de la Legion d'honneur French: National Order of the Legion of Honour is a French order established by Napoleon Bonaparte on May 19, 1802. The Order is the highest decoration in France

The town center of Jacmel Haiti was destroyed by a huge fire in 1896. The great Jacmel fire burned from September 19-21, 1896.

One article suggest that the fire broke out in the house of a citizen named Tibulle MAXIMILIEN in Bel-Air, Jacmel Haiti.

Afer the fire, Haitian president Tiresias Simon Sam gave the citizens of Jacmel a credit and an incentive to rebuild the city.
