Author Fania Simon

Fania Simon is the author or 'Sofi's Load', literary memoir about a nine-year-old girl fighting to overcome discrimination, oppression and abuse in 1970's Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Fania Simon was born in Gros Mornes in Haiti in 1972.

At the age of nine, she migrated to New Jersey and resided for many years in the foster home of a very influency Baptist Preacher in Hillside, New Jersey.

While there, she struggled to learn English and made tremendous effort to fit in a new culture and a home where no one spoke her native native language.

After she completed her primary education, She is a poet and has traveled throughout West Africa. She currently lives in Brooklyn.

Fania Simon is the founder of Bois-Caiman-Books. She's the author of Sofi's Load and Poetry in Haiti.
