Haiti Waste Management

There is a big trash problem in Haiti - Styrofoam boxes and plastic bags overwhelms the streets in some major cities when it rains.

Look at this photo... Haiti residential wastewater treatment system - When I decided to install a modern bathroom in my dad's old house, the "Boss" (plumber) made me dig a 16 feet hole in the back yard...

Once the digging is complete, he builds a concrete wall all the way up and covers it with concrete. The bottom is dirt

So basically all the toilet water and bath water goes into that hole. He tells me this type of residential wastewater septic system will almost never fill up... At lease not in my life time
